1th Hampshire (Reversed) Cap Badge

A brass cap badge for The 11th (Royal Militia Island of Jersey) battalion of The Hampshire Regt with a slider fastening. KK2021.

Note: The three lions face the opposite way to the badge shown in Kipling & King.

In his book The Military Insignia of Hampshire and The Isle of Wight 1702-1992, Terence Woods states "collar badges had ceased to be worn before WWII and unused 'collars' were later employed as cap badges which explains why variants with left-facing and right-facing lions exist."
