Hants RV Helmet Plate

A scarce, white metal, helmet plate for The Hampshire Rifle Volunteers with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). Woods 3.2 or 17.6.

Note: This plate has a curious gap below the crown, which I believe is only seen on this helmet plate.

Terence Woods, in his book on 'The Military Insignia of Hampshire and The Isle of Wight 1702-1992' dates this plate to circa 1859-1885.
