A scarce, blackened/silvered, helmet plate for an officer of The Rifle Brigade with three lug fastenings (north, east and west - pinched closed). KK284.

Note: Kipling & King, Head-dress Badges of The British Army Volume 1, states The Rifle Brigade ceased to wear helmets in 1890.
