Welsh Regt Officer's HP
A scarce, silver and (slightly faded) gilt, helmet plate for an officer of The Welsh Regiment with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). As KK255.
Note: This looks like a very neat conversion from a Victorian plate?
Head-dress Badges of The British Army Volume 1, by Arthur Kipling & Hugh King, says the motto was changed to the spelling Gwell Angau Na Chywilydd (as on this plate) in 1891 and the coronet became gilt in 1900.
