1st AB Aberdeenshire RV Glengarry Badge

A rare, white metal, glengarry badge for The 1st Administrative Battalion of The Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteers with two lug fastenings (north and south - replacing two lug fastenings east and west). KK1259 or Bloomer book 2, 219.

Note: Head-dress Badges of The British Army Volume 1, by Arthur Kipling & Hugh King, dates this badge to circa 1874-81.

W. H. and K. D. Bloomer's second book, Scottish Regimental Badges 1793-1971, describes this white metal badge as an officer's pattern and dates it to c1860-1880.

In 1881 this unit became the 3rd (militia) battalion of The Gordon Highlanders.
