Note: This regiment never actually existed. These badges were manufactured ahead of the aborted merger of The Gloucestershire Regiment and The Royal Hampshire Regiment scheduled for 1970.  read more

A scarce, blackened brass, shoulder title for The 24th Middlesex Volunteer Rifle Corps with three lug fastenings (north, east and west). Westlake 1502.

Note: The 49th Middlesex was renumbered as the 24th in 1880, then became a volunteer battalion of The Rifle Brigade in 1881, and the 8th battalion of The London Regiment (Post Office Rifles) in 1908.  read more

there is some residue to the rear from where the badge was stuck to a card.

Note: Peter Seaman, in his book on Arm Badges of the British Cavalry Regiments, states this badge, with its pale yellow backing, was worn by officers on the upper arm on the No 1 dress uniform.  read more
