83rd Foot Officer's SBP

A very rare, gilt, shoulder-belt plate for an officer of The 83rd Foot (County of Dublin, later 1st battalion of The Royal Irish Rifles) with the usual two hook and two stud fastenings. Minor verdigris. Parker 504.

Note: Major Parkyn, in his book on (Military) Shoulder-Belt Plates and Buttons, describes an other ranks’ version of this plate, which he dates to circa 1840-1850.  read more
